Career

Main work at each company. Click to expand.
  • I’m the evangelist for Money Forward Admina, a SaaS management service that supports corporate IT teams. Through talks at conferences and events, and through blogs and social media, I bring the challenges of corporate IT and the strengths of the product to people outside the company (see Speaking).
  • I bring what I learned in corporate IT back to the product development, marketing, sales, customer support and customer success teams, with input that sharpens our understanding of customers and support for decisions.
  • I work on BizOps with AI, redesigning how work is done on the premise of generative AI. By using AI for research, summarization and content generation, I raise each team’s productivity and the quality of its output.
  • I focus on building relationships with the corporate IT community and customers, and act as a hub that feeds what I hear on the front lines back into the product and the business.
Organization and management
  • In April 2020 I moved internally from front-end engineer to corporate IT, and in July I became the manager. I built the team and brought software engineers’ culture into it: psychological safety, 1-on-1s, agile evaluation, and pair and mob work (article, in Japanese).
  • I grew a team of two to six. Under the IT division I set up two groups, corporate engineering and IT support, and from July 2024 I was a senior manager overseeing the managers. As of September 2025 I oversaw seven full-time employees and one contractor (article on building the organization).
  • As a player-manager, I served as project owner for large projects and the introduction of key SaaS tools.
Main projects
  • After our company name changed from hey to STORES, I was project owner for changing the domain of about 450 accounts, leading the overall schedule and the moves of accounts across many SaaS apps (how-to article, interview).
  • For the company-wide Notion rollout, I owned the project from January to March 2025, handling the workspace design and training sessions (article).
  • I ran training sessions to promote AI use across the company (Gemini, Notion AI, Slack AI) and introduced a Notion custom agent as our internal AI help desk (article).
  • I was project owner for expanding our office floor space, and after the Noto Peninsula earthquake I switched our safety confirmation service (article).
  • I rebuilt the SaaS tools used in the back office with an eye to optimizing the whole rather than each tool separately.
SaaS I introduced
  • EDR, Okta, Admina, Notion, Miro, 1Password, Securio, Cmosy, Dialpad, Safie, Asana, Safety Confirmation Service 2, and more. With Admina, I also built an account management workflow using its role feature (article).
Automation, in-house tools and environment
  • I built applications (such as Slack bots) with Google Apps Script and Node.js, including a shared drive operation with Google Forms and GAS (article) and an internal assistant bot with ChatGPT (article). I also promoted visualization with Looker Studio.
  • I set up an in-house broadcast and recording studio with near-professional video and audio equipment and owned the streaming and running of events such as the company-wide review meeting (article). I also created a system that lets engineers swap their development PCs at any time (article).
Sharing and internal activities
  • I presented at internal training sessions and study sessions more than 50 times (article on the GAS training).
  • I planned and ran our division’s Advent Calendar as project owner.
  • As a front-end engineer at STORES.jp, I built screens with Vue.js and Nuxt.js. In the renewal of the store design screen, I replaced AngularJS 1.x with Nuxt.js while adding features (review).
  • I set up environments that raise developer productivity, such as Storybook, reg-suit, Sentry and WebPagetest.
  • The front-end team grew from three people when I joined to nine in a year. I created a system that assigns a different person each week to operations and kaizen (article, how we develop).
  • I exhibited at Tech Book Fest 5 and 6 with a book on Chrome DevTools (article).
  • I mainly developed web applications on Google Cloud, mostly in Go.
  • I built things with Google App Maker and Google Apps Script, and also visited clients to teach Google Apps Script in person.
  • I developed Chrome extensions.
  • I published gas-clasp-starter, a template for developing GAS in a local environment (article).
  • I shared how to make the most of the Chrome DevTools Console, among other things, on Qiita (article).

Work with me

I take requests like these as a side job.
  • Talks and events: speaking, panels, facilitation
  • Writing and media: guest articles, interviews, press
  • Technical support and consulting: Notion, Google Workspace, Google Apps Script, AI adoption, SaaS adoption for corporate IT teams (including Admina), and other corporate IT support
What interests me most right now is how to make corporate IT work more efficient with AI, and improving the workflow of device management, from MDM setup through purchasing, kitting and resale. My rates are negotiable. If it’s something I haven’t done before or it sounds fun, I may take it on at a lower rate. Please contact me by DM on X (@howdy39).
